Here’s an anti-waste idea for a protein-packed breakfast. Start your day off right by enjoying an egg and turkey croissant. This delicious combination offers the perfect balance of flavors and will give you the energy you need to tackle your day! An original way to eat your croissants… and your eggs!

You will need:

  • 4 Au Pain Doré croissants (preferably from the day before)
  • 4 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices of turkey deli meat (2 per croissant)
  • 4 tablespoons caramelized onions
  • 4 slices of cheese of your choice
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary

 

PREPARATION

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

Slice each croissant top-third and set aside the “tops”.

Lightly hollow out the inside of the croissant using a knife.

Spread 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard inside.

Add the turkey slices.

Add 1 tablespoon of caramelized onions.

Add the cheese slices.

Create a small “nest” for the egg by pressing on the cheese.

Crack the egg into the nest.

Place the croissant on a baking sheet.

Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 15 minutes or until the egg is almost set. Remove from the oven and add pepper and rosemary to taste.

As delicious as they are, our chocolate twists can become dry after a few days. However, that doesn’t mean they should be thrown away! Here is a zero waste recipe that will please the sweet tooths in your home! A twist pudding, delicious and perfect for desserts or snacks.

Ingredients:

  • 1 knob of butter, to grease the mold
  • 6 chocolate twists, cut into three
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
  • 300 ml of milk
  • 300 ml of fresh cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

 

Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C and butter a baking dish (approximately 25 cm x 20 cm).

Crush the twists into your dish

Beat the egg yolks and sugar together in a large bowl, until they whiten. Pour the milk, cream and vanilla extract into a saucepan and simmer. Do not boil.

Whisk the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks and pour over the twists. Let stand for 15-20 minutes.

Sprinkle with a little sugar and bake for about 25 minutes until everything is golden brown.

To decorate, sprinkle with a little powdered sugar and whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • One County Loaf
  • 200g of Raclette cheese
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper

 

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a bowl, mix together the grated cheese, butter, garlic, parsley, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Using a sharp knife, diagonally cut the bread loaf into thick slices, but make sure not to cut all the way through, so the loaf remains intact.

Using a spoon or your fingers, fill the bread slices with the prepared cheese mixture. Make sure the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the bread.

Wrap the bread loaf in aluminum foil, making sure it’s tightly sealed, and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups (1.5 L) of Cranberry & Orange bread cubes
  • 1 cup (250 ml) of chopped peeled apples
  • 2/3 cup (150 ml) of cranberries (fresh or thawed)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) of toasted chopped nuts
  • 2/3 cup (150 ml) of milk
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) of apple juice
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) of ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of icing sugar

 

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

Grease eight 1-cup (250 ml) ramekins and set aside.Mix the bread cubes, apples, cranberries, and nuts together.

Whisk the milk, brown sugar, apple juice, eggs, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.

Pour over the bread mixture.

Let sit for 30 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed.

Divide the mixture evenly among the ramekins.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden, puffed, and a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

Sprinkle with icing sugar and enjoy!
